About this Project

Oak Park is a low-income housing community located in Paso Robles. NCE designed the master plan of the project. Originally constructed as a World War II military housing complex, the entire existing Oak Park Community has been reconstructed to house almost double the amount of existing occupants. NCE was able to design the project without including storm drains. Utilizing the major principles of Low Impact Design, which included sheet flow, vegetative strips, and pervious concrete, NCE was able to meet the City’s storm drain runoff criteria while providing a sustainable post-construction stormwater treatment meeting the requirements of the SWQCB.  Included in this design was providing ADA access throughout the entire site while preserving the existing oak trees.  Complete reconstruction of three public roadways was also part of the design.  The street design reflects the new City criteria of small/traffic calming sections of the roadway while still providing the minimum emergency access requirements.  Oak Park is committed to meeting a net-zero energy standard through the use of solar panels and energy-efficient materials.
