About this Project
Student Housing South is a proposed 1,450-bed first-year student housing project at the southeast corner of the California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo campus. North Coast Engineering prepared the topographic survey to be used as the base map for site planning. NCE also decided on the City’s right of way along Slack Street. This project included seven 4 or 5 story dormitories, a 3-story parking structure, a welcome center, a coffee shop, a post office, faculty office space, a community lounge, sports courts, and a community garden. The schematic design of the project was completed in 2013 and constructed in 2018. The schematic design phase of the project was complete with the intention of providing a LEED gold-certified project, to meet RWQCB post-construction stormwater requirements using LID principles, and to achieve CPSLO’s walkable campus goals.
